To commemorate
World Water Day
sociocultural events were organised in Saint-Marc on 21 March 2012,
under the auspices of DINEPA and SESAM.
The theme was
"Quality water contributing to progress".
Town officials, notables, pupils, dance troupes, journalists and DJs were all present for this great celebration.
The President of the Water Committee urged the population to become aware of the importance of drinking water in a community, and to collaborate with SESAM so that one day Saint-Marc would be equipped with a modern hydraulic network which will benefit the whole population.
SESAM's administrator highlighted the risk of scarcity of the resource. He particularly underlined the importance of the Sanitation project for Saint-Marc, and called upon everyone to become involved in achieving the SESAM's objectives which are "Quality Water 24 hours a day for everyone in Saint-Marc".
One of the high spots of this ceremony was the election of Miss Water, and the day was brought to a close with a speech thanking everyone for their participation.
